Hello everyone its me again. My lude is deciding to give me a hard time recently with power steering pump issue which seems to have been reloved woth a new pump. However, i now habe an issue where my stereo and cigarette lighter are both not getting any power.
I have tested all fuses in engine bay and under dash and everything is ok just no power going to those two areas. Everything else in the car is getting power amd working as they should.
I did an ampage test when the car was off and there is a drain that i have located to the 100A battery fuse in the fise box in the engine bay. Thats as far as i have got because im now puzzled on what that fuse outputs too as i cannot find any wiring diagrams or any clues on what that fuse runs too. Any ideas or knowledge from any of you guys here will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Hagland_jr
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Battery draining issue
How did you check the fuses? I'm pretty sure the manual states which one is for the radio, usually easier to replace it then remove and test lol. I'm pretty sure it's under the bonnet.
If all the fuses are good/checked, check the wiring behind the radio, you should be able to trace back from the iso multiplug to the original loom connector and check that you have a good ground and also have +12v (permanent on one wire, switched with ignition on another).
I have seen some cigarette lighters with an inbuilt fusible link near the spade terminals which can pop before the main fuse. You'd need to remove it to check it as its right at the back by the spade terminals.
As for the amperage test, I'm not sure what test you performed, but I'm pretty sure the 100a feed is for the alternator. If you have some current on that when the car is powered off, I would say your diode pack in the alternator is most likely gone bad. It's one of the very few circuits that is continuously powered even when the car is switched off.
Any other work done recently other than the ps pump? I seem to remember there is an earth wire leading to the ps pump bracket I think? Not that it should affect the radio, but check it hasn't snapped internally as by now they will have started to go brittle possibly.

Hi hagland
All the wiring diagrams are available in the OEM service manuals, which can be downloaded from here on the forum

maybe take the battery out and give it a trickle charge for a day or so.
have you removed the stereo and checked to see if there are any in line fuses there - on my old BB4 it had lots of fuses to the aftermarket stereo..just a thought. I have also replaced cigarette lighter assembly as it stopped working - should be an easy part to find 2nd hand and only take minutes to replace if youve got the stereo out as well.
With all the recent rain it may be worth checking the passenger footwell hasnt taken in any water as this can effect the ecu and wiring
