Radio interference 5th Gen Type S

Post by PHIL88 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:18 pm

Hi,

Has anyone ever had/noticed a drop in signal clarity when listening to the radio when the rear-screen heater is turned on? would it be a poor wiring/earth or something? the rear screen was replaced by previous owner after it was smashed in.

Cheers
Phil

I believe the rear demister is also your aerial in a 5th gen. Do you have an aftermarket HU?

This :!: Ive been told that when you use cleaning products to clean your windows that it can cause interferance. Aparently giving your rear window a clean with a warm water, on a damp micro fibre or something can sort it out. This is something i still need to try out myself

Just to back up mills' statement, I've had the same thing said to me by a windscreen fitter. Used to get no end of questions about that sort of stuff.

Narr sounds like gobshite to me. A radio wave can pass through any solution.

Its an issue with the rear screen. The 5th Gens aerial is in the rear screen. Check the TDK demister coil under the parcel shelf. Check for loose wiring as it might be ground via the aerial when it on causing interference.

Cheers for the response guys,

Yh i think rear screen is possibly the culprit then as it was changed due to it being smashed in when previous owner had it. So maybe as Ratty says a loose connection or the like. Will take a look and let you know.

It is an aftermarket HU indigolemon
