Fitting an aftermarket steering wheel - SRS light question

Post by rob quilter » Mon Aug 20, 2012 1:11 pm

Not on the Prelude, but on the CRX....

The standard steering wheel is huge! And it has some bizarre chunks missing from it :?

I want to replace it with a smaller, aftermarket wheel, but obviously the SRS light will stay on. The straight forward way to get rid of it, is to remove the bulb. But is there another way to stop the SRS light being on?

Nope, wamp a resistor in the plug for the airbag connector. As long as it has resistance the system thinks the airbag is there. I just bought these for the same reason:

I've still to try it, but I'll happily post you one if you're going for it atm?

If you could do mate, pm your PayPal. Noob electrical question, do you just push it either end of the resistor into the yellow SRS connector (in the same way you do the SRS reset with a paerclip) or does it need to be soldered?

you should be fine to do that guys. just make sure you have a nice solid connection. takes less time than taking the bulb out and its the right way. how often is the correct way shorter than the cobble?

About 3 ohms for the resistor should do it. Well it did on mine. :D
