Hey Nitin,

Was looking a bit closer at your pics & i saw that you have an after market stereo fitted? I reckon this is where your problem is.

I have been to 2 different places to try get an after market stereo fitted but had no joy. The first guy didnt get much beyond taking off the stereo surround and clocking the myriad of connections before giving up.

Second place i went to, i explained a bit more about the set up & left the car with them, but after a couple of hours i got a phone call & they were unable to do it either. They charged me £45 just for looking, but i suspect the job was just too much hassle for the guy who also tried to sell me alternatives, surprise surprise!

I have had a go myself & i can get either the stereo working or the screen working, but not both at the same time!

I suggest whoever fitted your stereo must have encountered the same problems so just unplugged the satnav as they couldn't get it to work?

My plan was to take it to a place across the other side of Glasgow who specialise in custom installs and get them to do it at the same time as they fit my VAFC but that has been put on hold for a few months as other mods have taken priority

It may be best to connect the OEM stereo to test whether the satnav screen works. That way you can rule out the possibility that the satnav is faulty? I can help you with that bit :D

Another thing to note is the touch screen only worked with the ignition on. When the ignition was off the screen stayed on but the functionality disappeared.

By my reckoning i think there are about 7 plugs between the head unit/screen/heaters. It is a bit of a minefield but i found it was easy if i labelled them with a bit of masking tape as i unplugged them for future reconnection. Also, there is very little play in the length of cables so you will need to unplug a few to get right to the back of it.

The OEM head unit has 2 ports on its rear which connected to the loom. These both have to be connected or the touch screen dies. Your after market head unit has only one port, so there is probably a plug unplugged somewhere, that's why the touchscreen is not working (guessing!)

I am off work on Sunday so i will post a few photos of how to remove the unit & also how my connections are set up :D

Hope that is of some use

Just took out the after-market stereo from my car now and found out that there is a plug that is not connected to nothing (Green plug) :? That might be the reason?? :?:

Yip, that's it!

Connect up your OEM head unit exactly the same as the after market one was & connect that green plug to the other port in your OEM head unit.

That should be it :D :D

Hmmm,

Did you get the box in the boot connected up?

Had a look at mine today & its the same set up as the front. 4 plugs, but pretty obvious where they connect.

May need to do this to get power to the screen? :?

The thing is I can't find all the plugs in the boot. :( may need to get behind the seats, plastic trim etc..

I still want a picture of the boot from you, so I can work out where it mounts. ;)

This is the view from the back seat with the seats folded down. My unit is mounted in a cage to the roof of the boot. 8-)
