If you unscrew the white bulb holder insert from the rear cluster it has the bulb part number(s) stamped on there -
so after owning a lude as a daily driver for the past 24 years I have just noticed this :)

If the brake lamp warning keeps coming back on I will do the mod to the resistor box and do a write up ;)

Merlin did the mod on the drivers side rear cluster. Warning went off then back on. So swapped out passenger light clusters for known good ones. Warning lamp went out and then came back on the next day.
All new bulbs fitted.
So today swapped out the brake reservoir cap with known good one - Warning lamp went out and then back on and still on.

Only thing left to do is check the 3rd high level brake lamp.
What a total pain this is. No issues with brakes themselves and all brake lights working fine.

Im now wondering if it could be an issue with the brake light switch at the pedal - so will add that to the list of things to check.

Could be the pedal stopper has disintegrated (it's done that on mine) and has somehow damaged the switch by pressing on it too hard when up?

funny you should mention that. The brake pedal stopper did crumble a while back and I replaced it - maybe a good idea to check the brake switch.
However the warning lamp has gone away and not returned so looks like the problem is sorted.
Last thing i changed was the brake reservoir cap......so maybe that is where the fault was :?
after fixing stuff on the car I am never too sure what caused the issue in the first place...
