Good shout Ammo. Fortunately I've got one of those at work as well. They are very simple, yet useful little tools.

This was my initial idea. Suck out each bit of solder one by one, until the chip comes free. But there is added risk of damaging the tracks this way if I'm not super accurate.

I'll assess it tomorrow & see what the most sensible option appears to be.

Worked for me and I can't solder for toffee

If I'd had that to start with it prob would have taken me half an hour instead of hours and then having to rebuild a track as I broke one

Yeah, that's definitely a factor. I'm not going to be attempting it unless I'm at least 91% confident of success.

All will become clear within 12 hours.

I will add my 2pence worth. I have done a few honda ecu's in the past and the absolute best thing i used was 'solder wick'. Its like a thin reel of wick wire that attracts moulten solder. Heat the solder up and just hold the wick to it. Real amazing how it 'absorb's' all the solder that is hot enough. I tryed one of those sucker things and personaly i couldnt get on with it. Solder wick FTW. :)

Nice. I've got the option of that at work too. Personally, I'm the polar opposite. I've always struggled with the wick & got on better with the sucker.

However, this is a slightly different application to what I normally do. So who knows, the wick may come into it's own.

Thanks for your input, I'll let you know how it goes.

Right, looks like I might have broken my car.

Need to check with you guys first.

Chip is all soldered in the correct way, nothing appears to be damaged, but the car will not start now and there are multiple warning lights on the dash.

Help! Is there some sort of reset procedure I am supposed to apply before it will start, or has something gone wrong?

Please let me know asap if you have any idea.

Thanks
