Hmm, that Nackernickerbockerglory may sound good, but it looks like a Sansui thing I had in the 80s. Not for me I'm afraid.

^^ Good find.

The DSP's in the pioneers are very good. And the Auto EQ with the mic works well. Had a couple of units with that feature.

Yer its a good cheap version of the P99RS, Pioneer are very good and much better than many Alpines IMO. Both of which i was going to get but got a good deal on a DRZ9255.

What's the difference between this one and the mvh8300bt, other than it has a cd and i guess more eq features, although doesn't look as sexy?

Cheers

Oh, bear in mind my speakers are middle of the road and I gave up on the sub/amp about 5 years ago, so my set up is just the hu running 4 speakers now.

Its got a more advanced DSP. Probably not ideal for you. The one you found seems ideal for your needs.

Yeah to be fair, my goal is to play muusaaak off an SD card, so I'm never going to be setting sound quality benchmarks playing mp3s.

Unless i can plug my Dual vinyl deck into the aux in and find a way of lsd'ing round corners without making the needle jump. Perhaps a big sponge under the deck?

Ah now this is a very interesting thread for me as I was a huge fan of the Parrot Asteroid before it was released really liked the concept and waited until it was first released in the UK to replace my head unit as I really wanted one. But when it actually was released I had a play and it just wasn't quite a slick as I wanted, dont get me wrong it is pretty good, but because it is a kit of parts, its seems to boast a lot but may not be stunning at everything. The thing that got me most about it was that if you didnt have a separate data 3g dongle in it then you are missing out on features, and these days I would just want something like that to tether to my phone and share my Mobile data but it wont do that.

So I wanted something flash, similar money and good sound quality so after tones of looking I saw the Pioneer DEH-80PRS, that Ratty posted up, which was new out at the time and ordered one. One word for it, AWESOME cant stress that enough, it does a lot and everything it say it does it does floorlessly. Tones of EQ's and the auto time alignment really helps with the sound stage, my sub always used to feel disconnected, slightly delayed, but now it all sound like a system, my amps will go louder before distorting and the better EQ allows my speakers to cross-over with much more accuracy. The connectivity is great I have a 8gb sd car in the unit a 16gb on a fly lead that I bring in and out and I use the second USB for Iphone connections. Also this is the only decent head unit for mp3's that still has a good cd drive too.

So if you have a data dongle already and fancy some android app fun the Asteroid is good, but I'm personally not convinced that there will be much support in the future for it. If you are after some high-end EQs top sound quality and tones of connectivity the I would recomend the DEH-80PRS
