Speedo jumps

Right recently i've noticed when driving back and forth to Edinburgh, the speedo jumps for a split second. I could be cruising at 60mph then just for a split second the needle will jum/bounce up to, for talking sake say 80mph and then instantly return back to 60mph ?
being in the electrical business im thinking along the lines of a bad connection, or power surges/drops ? anyone got any ideas (everything else stays working fine).

thing is though its intermittent so sometimes doesnt happen at all, out of around 15 return trips to edinburgh in the last month i would say maybe on 2 trips its done it but was happening a lot on those trips bot spaced well apart.....would be looking for a way of actually testing it than just disconnecting it
