Hi,

Yet another little issue from me.

My remote key fob doesn't work when I got the car the battery in the key fob was dead. So I replaced the battery but it still doesn't work.

I have tried the guides online that show you how to program it again to the car but the last point tells you to press the lock button to finalise the storage of the key to the car and nothing happens when I do this, it works as expected up to this point.

I think the key fob may be faulty.

When you press and hold either the unlock or lock button it lights up but the led light turns off again straight away. Is this normal? Shouldn't the led continue to light up when either button is pressed and held?

This is how i did mine :-
If you buy a second hand one you can reprogram it to your car by
1)unlocking the doors
2) turn key to on
3)press lock or unlock on fob
4)turn key to off
5)turn key to on
6)press lock or unlock
7)turn key to off
8)turn key to on
9)press lock or unlock
10)turn key to off
11)turn key to on
12)press lock or unlock. Leave for longer than 10 secs to abort and or turn key off to abort
13)press lock unlock on each fob (max of 3 can be stored)
Steps 2-12 should be completed within 5secs for each step and 12 and 13 within 10secs for each step

Everything as should do up to point 13 then nothing happens.

Does the led on your key fob stay on if you keep it pressed?

Mine only lights up then quickly goes of when held.

Light should come on/off as normal and doors should lock/unlock as recognition that the process has worked. Might be worth putting a new battery in it too? One short blink means the process hasnt worked properly. Took me a couple of attempts

Yeah, i had the same problem too. It's all bollocks! Couldn't re-programme the fob at all.

I'm now looking at getting a central locking upgrade kit from ebay for £20. Had one for my 300zx and Supra and had no issues with either.

I actually tried 2 of these fobs on one of my other Preludes and that failed to programme too. They make it so difficult.

Not really. My mate fitted my last ones but he's really good with electronics. If your motors still work fine (ie with the key both sides open) then its just a case of attaching the new open/close wires to the old ones.

I think my passenger motor is buggered so i've gone for the kit with the new motors just in case i need them. They are stronger than stock motors anyway.
