Lude Generation

Right guys this has happened to me before and has been happening for the past few nights when I'm driving along in the dark with dipped beam and I switch full beam on all my lights go out and I have to slam the anchors on its really scary at times, when it happened middle of last year I changed the indicator stalks and it was fine but its doing it again so could anybody please help me???

That does sound scary!
I have never come across this problem but would think it has to be a problem with the feed to the stalk. The movement of going from dip to main must be disconnecting a wire or something. Either to the stalk or a fault inside the stalk itself. Are the cables to it routed wrongly so stretched tight?

I'm not sure mate coz when they went out earlier I had too quickly turn my hazards on just so I could see slightly I turned full beam off and turned all my lights of then turned them back on but nothing until I done it a few times I have led sidelights and one of them has started flashing could that possibly have anything to do with it I just don't have a clue I really don't want it to happen when I have my 3 year old son in the car

I also have 100watt headlight bulbs fitted as well so that might contribute to it I honestly don't know the only other thing I can do is get another indicator stalk and fit standard bulbs again

Running 100watt headlight bulbs in the oem loom is not a good idea. the amount of current that is drawn from the 100 watt bulbs will cause the wire loom and connectors to heat up considerably. My guess is that parts of the high beam wiring loom has melted and shorted hence all the lights going out.

My advise is to remove the 100w bulbs, check all headlight wiring looms for any damage, connectors and change your indicator stalks too. revert back to stock bulbs for now.

Go back to running standard 55w/60w bulbs - Upgrade them to osram night breakers which provide alittle better light output whilst drawing the standard 55w/60w

My thoughts exactly mate I have ceramic plugs to fit to the standard connectors but one of the wires snapped so removed them to fix but I need to find an indicator stalk now lol

So why did it happen before then when it was standard bulbs fitted

I'm not sure which reply to go with:

a. Depends what else you haven't mentioned
b. You fixed it last time so you know the last source of this same (apparent) problem

In all seriousness could it be a fluke and this time is not the same cause as last time, i.e. this time the higher rated bulbs have goosed something? Or has something not gone back quite right as Andy suggested and it has just worn over time?
