Brake light and ABS. Help!

Post by Peachy » Mon Apr 14, 2014 2:05 pm

Well this is starting to really annoy me. Started my lude up today [its happend countless times before] and the LED on the dash lights up red with the rear left brake light not working, then after you drive a little way the ABS light comes on also. Before you take the handbrake off and put it into drive [auto box] boh brake lights work, but as soon as i move off the left rear one stops working as said in the above and led comes on. I used to just change the bulp in the past, when not even blown and this would fix the situation, but not even that does anything now. I have reset the battery etc etc. What do i do? There seems to be so many faults with my lude as the 4ws does not work either, light constanly on and my revs stay the same and do not increase when i hit 100mph and can not got any more speed when doing track days. What is wrong with my flipping lude? Starting to wonder if it was a write off and its been rebuilt as i have jdm and ukdm parts all over it, when it should just be one or another. Also it comes up as a 2.2 vtec when you resaerch its number plate, yet its a 2.3 ukdm apprantly-im really starting to wonder what has happened to the car in the past. It even had a 2litre model ecu in when i brought the car, not a 2.3 ecu.

Most of all though i just want to know why brake light isnt working, and i carnt do paper clip test as i just dont know the codes and what they stand for, not to mention how quick they bleep up

HELP!

The lights have a little box in them to detect the blown bulbs. I'd start by shorting the signal from that out to see if the fault is simply the wee box itself.

If the box is claiming you have a blown bulb, you'll lose ABS, which will in turn stop the 4WS.

it may be a dodgy bulb that works intermittently I had it on a 4g once changing the bulb sorted it also if the light is letting in moisture it could throw the sensor
