LED Tail lights & cruise control knocked out

Post by c_doughty1 » Mon May 26, 2014 2:47 pm

Ok below is an image of my tail lights wires, at the back of this there is a LED bulb which from @confused i now believe that this is knocking the cruise control off when i turn the cars lights on of a night.

My question is im assuming the black is the earth so that leaves orange and the red/black wire, what does each one do?
I take it one is power for the light for night driving and the other is for when you brake but which way round is it?

Im thinking that if i apply a resistor to the black and the tail light that this will stop it tripping out the cruise control when i turn my lights on? What do you think guys?

I'm struggling to figure out why the lighting system at the rear of the car would be connected to the cruise control :? How random!!! I will trawl through the wiring diagram when I get home, see if I can help mate :)

sounds wierd for me as well. But to make sure why you don't put traditional bulb instead of LEDs?

would it be the bulb sensor causing the problem ?

Just thinking, the cruise uses the signal from the brake light switch to cut it out. if its back feeding because of either the bulbs or a faulty sensor then it could get the signal to cut off :? Maybe :?

I'm thinking along those sorts of lined with it being led when I turn the lights on it will be sending back the wrong amount of watts to the cruise control normally it would be expecting what 30 watts combined from both standard filament bulbs instead it's not as an led is barely 1 watt used. So I am thinking that if I used a resistor on the two wires which put power to the lights not the brake as I'm not sure which if the 3 does what I can trick the cruise control into thinking things are back to normal again?

Indeed that would appear to be the idea :)

change your bulbs back to normal bulbs see if it fixes it if it does then you have nailed down the problem and you need the no error led bulbs
