Lude Generation

So I've put my dash back together, incl a replacement guage cluster from a donor car (amusingly the digital odometer claims my car has done 305,000 miles now!), but for some reason the clock is counting up like a stopwatch.

I initially assumed this was because I hadn't the clock's knob connected, but after connecting it, it's still doing the same thing.

Any ideas please what causes this?

(Oh by the way per my other thread, the +12v in the door was correct and worked to run a 3rd party remote door locking controller just fine.)

I've had this on 2 of my 4th gens.

I put it down to dirt/moisture build up in the switch.
I gave the clock PCB a wipe over with a cloth and then spray with contact cleaner, then took the switch (the adjuster knob, which is a 3-way switch) apart, gave that a good blow over and a good spray with electrical contact cleaner and has been fine since.

If yours was doing it without the knob connected, you should focus more on cleaning the PCB on the clock.

I had this with my GTO. It was a jap import though and due to a dodgy speedo converter.

ive had same problem with mine - i put another switch in and it did the same so it does sort of point to the actual pcb being the culprit. Its not the speedo convertor as i have had this removed and fitted ukdm el dials. dont know if this helps any

Any more ideas on this please? Car's back together, warmed up and driving, but the clocks still acting like a stopwatch.

This happened to me once, only way I could fix it in the end was to swap out the clock for one that works..

Fair enough. Funny, as it was working before. (I know, that means nothing! )

i have exactly the same problem with my 4th gen too. never really tried to take the dash apart and have a look at it. is there a way if just turning the clock off ?
