Can you wedge it somehow, at least until MoT time?

nope if you look the top tab has snapped off on that one as well its an issue with the plastic on 5g headlights unfortunately if they don't snap coming off they might just do when being reinstalled.
I am sure someone will have a good one for you

Do you still have the part that broke off? You can glue plastic back together as strong as it ever was or plastic-weld it together. I had a bodyshop reattach 1 or 2 broken plastic headlight brackets on an old motorbike after it bounced off a roundabout kerb, fairing first...

Is it the top clip that has snapped :?: if it is and the bolt is still in place, the broken part may still be attached to the bolt ;)

Also you can adjust the beam level so it will be ok for the MOT, if you dont get it sorted before.

Park in front of a wall on a level surface at night, pop the bonnet and look down from above the headlight with a torch. There are two adjusters which you can put a long Philips head screwdriver into and turn, one for the vertical adjustment and one for the horizontal. You need to turn them many revolutions to see a difference. One or both of them have a 10 or 12mm nut which you can use a ratchet to adjust instead, which is much easier.

I've attached a picture which shows you the back of them and where the adjustment controls usually are.

I think one of the replacement front lights I bought had a broken clip and was pointed really low but I managed to adjust it to the right level using the dial. Hope it works for you!
