cigarette lighter removal

anyone removed this? can't quite work out how its done, plus its bloody awkward with the limited space you have in there

im sure someone posted up a while back saying you could remove it in situ but ive had a look and cant see thats possible - looks like your best to take the centre console out altogether. Ive got a few spare ones off the car so could have a better look if you need more info

lol! I have 4ws so that would be pointless

it's to put in a switch in it's place with a panel over the top. ill update my Profile with the plans asap and all will be revealed

does the back section unscrew maybe and then it pulls out through the front via a twist? thanks for the piccies

No way can the back section unscrew - the last pic shows the bit where the led mounts to the top of the lighter and you cant rotate that as there are plastic pins either side to stop you doing this - even if you did manage to free it by breaking these pins it would be too big to pull through to the front. The only way i can see it being done would be to prise off the black plastic eye bath bit at the front and for the lighter to be removed from the back. Im totally guessing

I have done this, but not for years...
IIRC it's pull the plug off the back, twist the led and take out, then you have no wires to worry about.
Then, I'm pretty sure the whole gold colour barrel unscrews
I have a spare at home I think, if you don't have any joy I'll try to dig it out.
