Lude Generation

Im wanting to run 2 passive subs and either 2 or 4 speakers in the boot of my daily, but i want them to be seperate from the stock current install. i want it to be easily removable, so what i was thinking was running all the stuff in the boot from an amp.

Im thinking this will mean i couldnt run the head unit at a volume that is safe for the stock speakers (ie my usual listening volume) but then crank the volume on the amp running the boot install.

What kind of gear would i need for that? i already have the subs and possibly some speakers so im looking at the amp setup to drive it.

I would use the rear rca outputs of the headunit to drive an amp. So this enables you to use the faded and run full rear fader for the boot install and run full front fader when driving around.

Easily removable with up to 14 wire connections is going to be a lesson in method imho.. You would need to get a chunky auto connection port and wire everything into that. Your power cables might need some thought though. That would give you fast removal though.

Are you wanting to use the rear speakers to listen to as part of the whole while driving or as a boot rig that you open the boot to experience? If the latter then go with whatever you fancy. If its to make the inside rock I would honestly spend the cash, time and instal on putting an amp on the fronts and putting some good cones in there. imho the rears are best low cut at about 800hz and providing low bass extention. You want as little treble coming from the back as possible. Your ears face forwards after all

would the rear fade not include the already existing rear speakers though?

I have a quick connect thing for the sub in the lude which works quite well when i want the sub out, so was going to try the same sort of thing, so the cables that must remain in the car can be hidden under the boot carpet when not in use.


And yeah i want it to be an open boot thing, it would be a once in a while deal to have a bit of fun with so it doesnt have to be really easy to remove, just doable on my own in a reasonable amount of time!

So as i only have one preout on my headunit, can i get an amp that can drive 2 subs and 2 sets of speakers? or would i need a head unit with more then one preout to run more then one amp?

you know you can buy boot bxes with space for two subs and 4 6x9's? one of those would do the job nice and easy.

Is that including an amp to run it all? thats the bit im not sure on as i have never used amps in cars.

I was thinking earlier, and this may be stupid, but if i found an amp to run everything i need, and built it and all the speakers into a box, and ran a power cable and ground to a quick plug thing, i could run an rca to 3.5mm jack from the amp and run the boot rig right off a tablet\smartphone? right?

or would it not be that simple? only issue i can see with that is powering the actual tablet. maybe having a usb charging port on the box rig too.
