Hi I'm thinking of upgrading the four speakers front and rear, head unit, sub and sound proofing.any advice on what sound proofing and should I use more than 1 layer, also with the speakers would you recommend 3 way speaker or the ones where the tweeter is separate I'm not the best when it comes to audio  Ideally sound quality is what I want and it needs to be loud :D

ebay sounddeadening is fine. put multiple layers closer to the drivers and then spread it out. 20% coverage gives 80% effectiveness so dont be too crazy.

Replace the fronts with components (tweeter seperate)and put in lower mid/bass drivers in the parcel shelf. (or get a set of three way and disconnect the tweeter array) This prevents your stage being drawn back behind your ears and gives a much better soundfield experience.

Amp the fronts, the rear 'could' be run off a headunit if budget is a consideration.

Sub in the boot, tie it down. play with the knobs till you like how it sounds. If you can get a headunit with crossover function even better. I hate how the mids try to play down to the bass notes when they have no business doing so. If you can cut those frequencies from the signal they will work much harder where you want them to.

I am sure ratty will come in with some more soon as he wakes up :P

1. Remove all ICE.
2. Get nice exhaust system.
3. Fit Typhoon.
4. Open windows.
5. Drive to tunnel.

Focal make good speakers.

Your saying you want loud but that term can be misused. ANY system can go loud. 120db is 120db in anything. But playing 120db and have distortion free music id a different matter.

You will want some decent from components and they MUST be amplified. Or even actively run so the midbass and tweeters have their own seperate amp but this will cost more and you need some active crossover before amplification.

Then subbass can add up around 10db for the sound level and still maintain an even eq curve for SQ.

IMO

2 way components and a 2 channel amp for the front components.
a 10 or 12" sub with its own amp.
FUll sound deadened vehicle and youll be onto a winner.

Im bassically using that setup, focal front components off a genesis profile 2 amp, 12" sub off a profile sub amp and pioneer double din, seems to do a pretty good job. If your near Billing aquadrone at any point your welcome to a listen, ludes off the road for a few months so she wont be going anywhere for a bit :(
