Hi,

Apologies if this is proper newbie / basic stuff. My car came with a remote Honda fob, and also some print-outs of instruction on how to programme it - the previous owner must have tried to do this.

The fob doesn't operate the central locking and looked damaged / chewed up. I changed the battery - no use as with the battery in, the red led would be constantly on. I bought a replacement fob off ebay - but although in good condition, that didn't work with the instructions (which I've also seen here on another thread).

I'm actually wondering if the car even has RCL as I think it wasn't standard on the 98 model - is there a way to confirm easily please?

All 5th gens have remote central locking as standard.


This is what the service manual says for trying to reprogram the fob. Is it the same instructions as what come with your new fob?

Yer I have the same instructions printed out from the previous owner. The fob had seen better days (looked like a dog had chewed it), so I tried one from ebay that looked exactly the same, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Any ideas anyone?

Where is the control unit for the RCL? maybe I can check it or fuses etc?

Also this is the type of fob I found when I bought the car and I aslso got as a replacement off ebay
