Lude Generation

Hi guys well today me and my partner went shopping in Aberdeen as my girlfriend is in hospital after having our wee girl jumped in car to come back to hospital and my 4ws light starting going dull along with all the dash lights and rev counter wasn't working car was still running clock was also flashing, kept driving only to see smoke coming from in front of the steering wheel and the plastics behind wheel were quite hot, pulled into hospital switched it off, put key in ignition turn key all the way round absolutely no dash lights whatsoever but it still started then cut out straight away please any help would be great right now as we live 110 miles away from the hospital

check the ignition wiring behind the wheel

also check the fuses

Will do guys I'm just petrified in case it goes on fire

Just checked all wiring behind steering wheel,checked all fuses none blown and can't see any burnt wires etc fuse box under dash and engine baby all fuses are fine,tried starting it again it starts just dies straight away though and still absolutely no dash lights or beeping sounds only beeps when I put key in ignition

if it dies straight away it sounds like the ignition buddy other than that a bad earth if there was smoke in the cabin it has to come from somewhere in the car there may be a live earthing out somewhere
