A/C Fan comes on when the car is switched off??????

Hi all,Im stumped with this problem. Car runs fine with no fans coming on outside of when they should but as soon as I turn off the car the AC(condensor) fan will kick in and stay on.

I have checked the ac fan fuse and relay and both are working fine. Also the car was parked for 3 months without starting and the problem only arose after that long no-start period.

Any help??

Does your temp gauge show any increased temperatures? Does the AC fan eventually switch itself off or does it constantly run ie for hours?

This will happen regardless of temp(if the car was just started from cold or at running temp). It will run to at least 20mins,I didnt leave it any longer for sake of the battery. strange one......

After a lot of tracing it looks to be a short circuit on the clock radio circuit. Still trying to find the short though. Anyone got more tips on finding shorts?

What makes you think it is a short on the clock circuit?

I had the battery + cable off then put my test light on the battery + terminal(it lit up). Then when I pulled the fuse for the clock/radio the light went out. Sounds right no?

Have you pulled the clock fuse whilst the the fan is running to see if it cuts it off?

Nope, you will always find a circuit that way - the 'clock' circuit is the one that keeps all the permanent live supplies on (to things like the clock, radio, central locking etc)
