Cruise Control Failure

Hello Luders....

So yesterday Mr Free Ranj Egg decides to take Mrs Egg out for a day of shopping...

I am happily travelling along the M42 and then hit the M1 and there are roadworks between Nottingham and Sheffield.

So I decide to stick my Cruise on at 50 mph...

The button to engage cruise works fine...

I press set at 50 and then take my foot off the pedal...It didnt set.

So I tried a few things like accelerating to 60 and setting but it failed.

Any suggestions to what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance

Ranj

Had the same thing when i made the cruise in my bb9

One pin for the plug inside the button holder was damaged

You can take it off the steering wheel and measure the buttons

Cruise on my 4th often does this. Switching it on/off at the main button or ignition off/on restores normality.
Try that?

Ian. Apologies but im not the most technical person. How do i restore normality by switching it on/off at the switch or ignition?

Is your clutch and brake pedal returning properly and are the switches adjusted?

The cruise control on/off button. If you're driving and cruise doesn't work, switch the cruise control off, then back on again.
Or alternatively, switch the ignition off/on when you get an opportunity.

Either would achieve the same result - resets the cruise control ecu.

Phil may have suggested what is the true cause BTW :ugeek: but resetting the ecu will probably get it going again each time if it doesn't respond while driving.

Not just because he's got girth, I agree with Phil. My 5th did the same thing and it turned out to be a loose brake pedal. I think @Merlin put me on to that one.
