4h gen interior illumination

Post by firstlude » Fri Jan 27, 2017 8:30 pm

having lived with my lude for couple months now and the fact its dark when i go to work and dark when i come home , i am finding the interior light seems to be in the wrong place it lights the rear up a treat but no so good in the front i have improved the light output by fitting a multi led bulb but would love more light in the front , so i am thinking when i get round to fitting my 5th gen moonroof i might have to add a light at the front of the headlining by the mirror , also why is there no illumination on any of the door switches do jdms have any extra lighting that the uk spec ones dont

im pretty sure all prefacelift ludes didnt have light up door switches - think it was facelift model that got them
you can fit a set of them to your car if its prefacelift - you just need to take a feed of the door puddle lights - also u can fit new led which helps. Mind u only the drivers side switch illuminates-there is no illumination on the passenger side not that its needed ;)

you can fit a facelift map light which is a bit better and you can switch it on/off as you like - best to do it when you do the moonroof conversion to 5th gen one - its a bit fiddly but vtecmec did a good write up on it in his lude profile :)

As vanzep said, pre-face lift ludes don't have any lights in the door switches. Face lift cars have the "auto" bit light up on the drivers side.

Face lift cars also have lights in the front footwells, linked to the interior light (think that's whether UKDM or JDM?)

I don't think UKDM's ever got the puddle lights, think they were JDM only (available on pre-face and post-face). I have retro-fitted them to my UKDM. Available in either red or white.

My JDM facelift 4G doesn't have footwell lights.

Where are they and what do they look like?

On facelift jdm ludes you got footwell lights(these were a jdm access option) instead of door puddle lights. Sure it wouldnt be too much hassle to instal puddle lights ;)
