Unknown cable and brake light question

Post by James 5th gen » Sat Apr 08, 2017 6:19 pm

Okay so the first thing is this cable that dropped down. by my feet today, it looked like it was just tucked away but I'm unsure what it's for or if it's important, if you what it is or know where it goes let me know please :-)

Next thing is the rear brake light on the actual windscreen itself, it's seems to not be working at all and I think the problem is that it's actually not plugged in. However I don't have a loose wire hanging about near by so does anyone have an idea? Cheers

with regards to your first pic i am thinking it could be something to do with an aftermarket alarm does it have a slot in the front to put a key in , as for your brakelight it could be the fact someone has fitted it but not wired it up as there wasnt one there from factory just a guess as i dont no much about 5th gens
success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm :D :D

Yeah it does have a slot in it and I guess everything works so I'm not too fussed. But with the brake light They are from factory so I have no idea, the picture is taken from inside the boot looking up through a cut out in the steel. If anyone here with a 5th gen could compare there brake light with the picture that'll be great, I feel that the previous owner has got half way through a dodgy job.

If you have a spoiler mounted on the boot with a brake light installed then the one in the centre of the rear windscreen won't work. It is only enabled of the boot doesn't have a spoiler with brake light unless someone has messed around with it.

This.

If I recall correctly, the connector that's covered in foam in the foreground of your picture goes to your spoiler brake light. You can separate them and plug into the interior rear brake light.

All sorted now, thanks for your help guys, it is as you said it was. It's the same plug for either the window light or spoiler light, which is good because I'll be using a different spoiler without a light :D
