I use some 'switch lube' to prevent arcing or oxidisation that may occur after I've had to clean up any switch contacts.

I found it hard to find on eBay last time, then recalled some Tamiya remote control car speed controller grease which does the same thing. Like vaseline really... Used it after cleaning up the position/controller ring in my electric folding mirrors assembly.

Yeah I figured it's good practice but I didn't have any correct grease at hand. Heck, if it worked for 20 years now, it's bound to work another 10. If not, now I know how to disassemble it and it will take me 10 minutes next time *knocks on wood*.
