Battery won't charge
Check the voltage (DC and on AC) when the engine is running now.
Shouldn't have anything on AC but nothing over 14.7V DC. If you have AC ripple voltage then that could be causing the light faults.
Also check all earths and the charge light/exciter cable are correctly fitted to the alternator (that's the small one).

have you done a 4ws reset?
my 5th gen would throw a code if it stalled whilst i was parking - voltage dropped too low is my guess... Resetting it sorted it out...

4ws motor is in the rear steering rack.
Not seen that code come up before. Have a read through the fault finding guide in the service manual for that code and see where it takes you?

Battery won't charge
Update, started the lude up this morning and all of the lights, even the 4ws, got just over halfway to work and the battery light came on but when I reved the engine it went out, nearly got to work and all of the dashboard lights came on one by one and then the engine died, just put another alternator on charged for about a minute and then stopped charging, I am at a complete loss

There's a similar thread running for a 5th gen at the moment. There is more to the charging circuit on a lude than just the alternator.
Have a look in the oem service manual, page 23-117 onwards.
What model 4th gen do you have? UKDM? JDM? Engine? Depending on which model it is, will depend whether you have the ELD or not (there are two different types of circuit, as shown in 23-119 or 23-120.
Fault finding flowcharts are from page 23-121 onward.
