Has anyone come across these units before, are they any good?

Also which one to go for the standard fitting:

Or the removeable front one?

I'm always dubious about cheap no name head units as they're most likely bad quality imported from China.

What you'll probably find is the software will be rubbish, alot of R&D goes into the good interfaces which is a big factor in driving the cost

I have the xtrons TD717G double din unit fitted.

I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive side I find the interface better than I expected. The iPod controls are ok, but you have to select the album/playlist before you plug the unit in to select it, it doesn't bother me as I have everything on random. I have the sat nav version and uploaded igo8 myself ( bought the unit without gps card as it was cheaper) this is great and allows me to hear any source while the unit is in nav mode.

On the negative side the company Xtrons are rubbish and the customer service the same. I bought my unit from a third party seller and it came within three days which was good. However I then ordered a DTV tuner and reversing camera straight from xtrons waited three months and it never arrived, got my money back (through PayPal) and then ordered them from other companies.

I have a 5th gen and fitting wise it doesn't fit 100% (small gap round the outside of the unit) but I think I need to get a surround from eBay to finish it off, just haven't done it yet.

The other day I installed a DTV Freeview tuner. This is mint as I can watch TV while waiting for the girlfriend.

Sound quality is acceptable, I don't have any complaints and I think it is about what you would expect for the unit.

I havent got any pics, but could post some tomorrow at some point.

Hope this helps

Thanks it's alway good to get feedback from someone that has already had something before. The reviews I have found so far all seem to concur with your experience.
