Have a 5th gen and I'm ready to do some audio upgrading. I already got some nice speakers for the rear, now I gotta get some front component speakers and wire everything up with an amp.
Trouble is, I am opposed to mounting the amplifier in the trunk/on the back seats because I rather prefer to keep my cargo space looking stock and spacious..
If I recall correctly, I once read that there's lots of space behind the door covers of the rear seats? That looks like a nice option, but I;m not ready to go pulling them off just to check if that's true.. Anyone care to pitch in?
Also, I did sae a nice install on a 4th gen - using the trunk lid.. This would be acceptable as it's out of the way regarding cargo.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Ideas for where to mount amplifier?
I have 2, both on either side of the rear quarters as Brozilla shows above. Only consideration is (on the 4th at least) there is an ABS ECU mounted there on the right side.

Ideas for where to mount amplifier?
I also used space for spare wheel like Ratty ( It wasn't copy of his idea )
Personally I think that trunk lid is quite bad idea cuz you have to make sure that will be enough cables hang freely to be able to open trunk. It's also quite a lot of cables which can vibrating inside the lid & making no needed noice. Maybe that look good & save you a space in the trunk but also is quite danger. We have to remember that power for amplifires we're taking from battery & put car on fire is simpler then we think
But that's only my opinion
Here is my solution
