Dont shoot me but....

I need to take my lude (2.2 vtec import) in for mot. It will fail as its been sat for years. I dont know if im going to have the time or the money to do it up depending on the fail sheet and i really dont want to spend almost 100 quid on a new battery to then get rid of the car.

Could i get away with borrowing a battery out of another car just for the mot day? Or will that cause issues?

Thanks!

Yes, just make sure it physically fits and is roughly the appropriate capacity.

Good to hear from you again Bludge.

Shouldn't be any problems borrowing a battery from another car just for the day - providing it fits.

Good luck with the MOT and let us know how it goes!

Yes, best of luck with the MOT.

Probably worth considering the now appreciating value of 4th gens when making your decision over weather to fix it up or not...............

Thanks guys!

I would love to get it back on the road if i can, but the mot will be the decider. If its all work i can do myself to a decent budget i will be on it, if not it will being going up for sale here first to the highest bidder in the hope that someone can either do it up or use it for parts.

Loads of nice bits with it so would rather it go to one of you guys if it goes!

The battery does need to be secure (not moving around) for the mot.

yep and from memory its a 70ah 570cc - quite a big battery :)
drive deathtrap up here and drop it off - you know it would be in good hands and put back on the road ;)

So the MOT failure list wasnt as bad as i was expecting, but i have pretty much decided i dont have the means to try and get it back up to spec and run 2 cars again having just gone back into education, so im going to put it up for sale on the forum in the hope someone will give me a fair price for it and either do it up or break it for parts to keep others going.

Im gonna be gutted to see it go, but its just not feasable for me to try and keep it as im losing my off road parking space that it has been on. at least i got to have one last burn around to the test center before getting rid!

I will stick a thread up in the cars for sale section today.

Ah, I'm really sorry that you are having to give it up Bludge - I know you really enjoyed the car.
