Fuel & Temp gauges dim on start-up? 4th Gen

This has started to happen recently - the rest of the dash is normal.

Any one got any ideas please?

Are they always dim, or do they brighten up after a while?

If always dim, seems like they're getting 12v from the sidelight circuit so they think your headlights are on.
