Bumble_bee's 4g wont start

i suspect the immobiliser is the culprit (and i plan to get an car elec guy to rip it out), as you turn the key and hear the fuel prime ok and get all lights on dash etc, but no noise, crank, anything. the mains relay has been swapped and checked. ive checked the Starter Signal fuse is ok.

ive swapped the starter motor with mine this afternoon and its not that. dont think it would be dizzy, ht leads, battery (this has been checked & charged).

we managed to jump start it fine the other day, so i can only guess the immobiliser is preventing the starting procedure up.

any more thoughts are welcome :)

if it was the imobilizer wont it not start at all not even jump start it would be a pretty useless immobiliser that lets someone jumpstart the car

good point. if its not the imobilizer then it saves electrical fuss, jus gotta think what else it could be...

simples, try jumping it again, if it starts then it has to be your battery :D i once had a sim problem with a ford, real odd, it would start when cold but if i tried starting it warm it couldnt muster the amps to crank it self till it was cold again, new battery sorted it for about 4 days then the same  finaly sorted it, something else was drawing the amps when warm (grounding) and not leaving enough for the starter  it would appear your has a sim issue, you havnt got one of those stupidly large amplifiers in your boot by any chance

if the battery is fine then you have something else taking your cranking amps. if this is so, it will be getting pretty hot, just go around with your hand till you get the "ouch" thats real friking hot, after you have charged the battery that is. it may only get hot with the key turned so try again after you have held the key in. (dont do this too long it may damage what ever is going wrong)

does the solenoid click when you turn the key?

Bad earth from your battery perhaps? When it was jump started were both leads on the battery or did you put the earth lead onto something else? if you did it points that way.

yes m8 try the ignition switch ;)
mine did this and on the left of steering coloum the switch had burnt out. my m8 took it apart and soldered in a new one 8-)

it is a common problem.

defo not the battery mate, its a pretty new one, plus i changed it for my lude's battery and made no difference. nope, no additional amps, subs, speakers etc in Bumble_bee's lude (and even less in mine), its got the bog standard ICE.

ive checked all earth's and they seem fine but still a possibilty - ill double check them with a multimeter

good thought, id forgotten about ignition switch being a common problem, ill check that!

hmm ok, is the switch an obvious item? as i can always swap it with mine to test whether it is that or not - ill go look it upon the Lude Manual now....
