mate fried his ECU in his 2.3i auto gen 4. his ecu was p14-g51 bought another one and put it in and the car runs fine, but lacks power.
took it out and it says on it 2.0ltr must have come from a 2.0 ltr auto F20.
anyone know are they the same ecu or has he got to sorce an ecu from a 2.3i auto???

Yep. If it's a 2.0i (P11 I think), then completely different map and engine. Get a new one. ;)

Well they are the same ECU yes, the second one you linked to looks to be a G50 codeset, which if it’s like the UK VTEC’s which have G00 & G01 codesets, they don’t work between models.

Just read on Lude Behaviour that you’ve had these problems from buying a ‘chip’ from the states.
So that is clearly where the problem lies.

I can’t stress enough for people to avoid these crappy ‘chips’. They do not do the things they state on their ads at all, like you say it tapped into the the IAT/MAF sensors to fool the car into thinking there is more air and lower temps to throw in more fuel. Wrong way to tune a car PERIOD!

I just feel bad that you fell for their advertising crap and bought one – we all learn the hard way in situations. Next time ask us on here first.

I think the thing now is realise that a replacement ECU still has issues, so worth checking the wiring & IAT /MAF sensors.

Cheers,

Rob
