ECU [Kickdown bad and low topspeed] ?

Post by Peachy » Wed Nov 07, 2012 11:12 pm

Since i fried my ECU and put in the replacement one the car has been running great again. Only problem though it that the kickdown is not the same ie far less reponsive [yes i have an automatic!] Why is this?

Also i can not seem to get more than 100mph out the car now-shhhhhhhhh lol When before when the old ecu was fine i could do 135mph flat out on the motorway private road I own.

Could the new ecu be code restricted for top speed?

Can anyone help here?

Cheers Peachy

Direct replacement for the old one. I have a 2.3 ukdm bb2 automatic.

Heres the link to the one i brought

Had this dicussion before but it said its for a 2 litre lude when mines a 2.3. But it seems exactly the same as the old one?

you really need the same as was taken out matey a 2.0 litre ecu will run a 2.3 but it will react differently especially on an auto which sends signals to the gearbox

ok. Are we sure the one i put in was for a 2litre though, thats what im wondering? Someone had felptip penned on the back saying 2 litre on the ecu, but the numbers on this ecu are actully the same as the numbers on the one i took out, hence why i ordered it

your not having much luck Peachy... :(
mercutio is right tho - get the ecu for the 2.3
if it says on the ecu for 2 litre then that is definately where the problem lies.
hang in there - you will get it fixed.
tbh tho your better off buying parts thru the forum - people on here will sell you the right parts
put a post up in the wanted section ;)
