Headlight problem, burnt plugs

Did you have 100w bulbs in ?

I presume the corrosion (they should have been greased) led to high resistance & therefore high temperatures and to the melting. Like an electric heater...

Your best bet for now would be to tin the ends of the wires & crimp on some proper, non-insulated crimp connectors (with slip-over insulating covers) that are the correct size for the blub spades.

You'll get the proper ones (not those horrible blue insulated rubbish!) from a good motor factors.

Looks like the connectors became a loose fit on the bulb terminals. If there isnt a good connection then they start arcing and getting very hot when running causing the connectors to deteriorate very rapidly.

think it must be a jdm thing as mine went the same way, i just cut mine off and fitted new terminals (female side) then encased them in silicone sealer, (so i now have silicone plugs) been fine ever since, and real cheap fix :D

Even better - presuming one can solder.

Less chance of confusing the connectors when changing H4s.

Same jobby happened to me and my bulb holder just melted. Luckily someone sent me some for free :)

I installed more lithium grease when I did the HIDs.

Stops the voices in the headlamps...
