Hi guys,
Wondering if some of you audio gurus can give me some advice

I want to put some better speakers in my 3G Accord, as the current ones are past their prime it would seem. The speaker layout is very simple - 2 x 16cm in the front doors, and 2 x 16 cm speakers on the parcel shelf. Now, I want to be able to get a bit of bass, but at the same time don't have a of of cash to be throwing at the audio currently - can anyone advise some speakers that should give me what I'm after?? I don't know if there are 16cm speakers made specifically to give good bass, but I was thinking of using the rears for bass and then have the front speakers do the rest?
Also, I'm getting some mental interference from the engine

Currently I'm pretending I have a supercharger, but that's getting old fast

How can I cure this?
Cheers,
Josh

16cm speakers limits what you can buy, also you wont get any satisfying bass
I would get a good component setup on the front, and maybe small bass box or tube for the boot
I used 6x9 subs before and its just not enough bass

on a tight budget you will do better to spend your first money on some sounddeadening.
Put in into the doors and both sides of the parcel shelf and you might not need to replace the speakers right away.
otherwise, again on a tight budget, if you want more bass from the rear look out for pairs of components for sale with no cross over or tweeters, or some 2ways. if you get 2ways you just clip the little wires to the tweeters. this will keep the important higher range sound in the front where it needs to be.
you can pick up speakers for a fraction of the original value if your canny about it.
I would also recommend putting a plea out on facebook for parts. Its amazing what people have in a cupboard that they will never use again and will send you for postage. you could end up with a sub, amp and matched components just for the want of the question...
The main question is how much cash HAVE you got to throw at car audio right now?
if 100£ then split it down the middle. sounddeadening and secondhand components.
I have a pioneer sub (12'') you can have for £50
some good front speakers and plenty sounddeadening and a sub and you should be good to go.

You can get bass from 16cm speakers BUT it depends on the application, depends on the speaker, enclosure type, and what band limitation you will use on the speaker ie crossover.
IMO Ludelover is spot on.
Get 40sqft of deadening and deaden the doors and seal the holes with the deadening and same with the parcel shelf.
Then get some 16cm 2way coaxial speakers all round. I would personally get some 2 way components in the front and some midbass speakers in the rear that roll off before the treble frequencies 5k.
