What size speakers in front of 5g ? thought was 6.5 so brought some decent ones but don't fit even with the plastic removed from the door panel

if you want 6.5 you will need to make some baffles like this:

i would advise you to get some sounddeadening into the doors while you are at it if you want the new speakers to give you what you want.

this is just a little bit because im saving weight but you can go crazy here.
look like this:

you will need to chop out most of the doorcard in that area and get a hammer on some of the door.
Its not an easy job and you will want to look at how other people have done it.
if you want a close to direct swap with little hassle you need 5.25 and just chop the rear of the doorcard basket out. will sound a little hollow as you have no baffle.

That's great info thanks

, I will get some 5.25's now then, I chopped the rear baskets out earlier.

6" speaker is direct swap... although not much choice in speaker

there is no direct swap imo. the way the doorcard is designed makes it a pita whatever you do.
have you got pics of fitted 6''? i would be intersted to see how the rear clearence went.

I had some 6" pioneers, sorry I did have to cut some plastic away behind the magnet
but they lined up with the holes and was correct Diameter

interesting. its a shame there are not many in that size. i think a PA speaker would work but they are designed to go in cabs, not flap about in free air

difficult choices.

its Jap fitment, for example:

personally its better to mod, and have better selection of components.
I was going to go for the JL's above, but have some much better diamond components with some simple modding...

There are direct replacement speakers without basket cutting but not many.
Imo if your not trying hard enough until you fit 7.1" in there.
