Firstly, is not having one an mot failure?

secondly, mines not working but the bulbs are ok? Any ideas? Not checked fuses tbh but would have thought it would have been on the same circuit as something else
Also no voltage at the plug.

not having one would not be a MOT failure but having one that doesnt work would be so can you remove it easily

If they fit the same you can have mine if it's needed.

I've got about ten spare bud. Assuming we're talking about the spoiler one?

Can you just cover it up with black electrical tape to hide it to get it through the MOT? @someonewhoknows

This is not true, as long as its not clearly broken it will go down as an advisory as it could be disconnected but unable to check without removing anything.

Mines past 2 MOTs while I've had it with a 'disconected' high level brake light.

But do you have a brake light in the spoiler (if you have a spoiler)?

Mine has the brake light in the spoiler wired up and the other third one sitting in the parcel shelf doing nothing.

I've always been of the belief that if something is there it should work, unless it's negated by something else.

Anyway as I said Phil if you need a working one I'm not far from yours all day tomorrow, you can have the one I'm not using so long as you take it out.

this isnt for a spoiler brake light but the one in the rear screen, its sorted now, well i have put in a Prelude sign thingy blank jobber to cover it

I have one in the spoiler (not working) and the one on the parcel shelf (disconnected).

I'm not sure where this if it's there it has to be working thing has come from, if it's there it usually has to be tested but won't always cause a failure if it's not working. Same goes with spare wheels, I've got a flat, bald spare that's only use is to hold the boot liner up and it's passed with it twice. They do always try and sell me a replacement for silly money though.

Also just read that if less than 50% of the light on the 3rd brake light is visible it's a fail but 0% is a pass

Any idea what bulbs the prelude/high level brake light takes?
Mine's missing both and none of the spare bulbs I have seem to fit...
