My car wont start this morning, so i was gonna replace the battery and alternator, but i have just been quoted almost £300 for one.
Now there is a lude up at my local scrappy which i could get the alternator from, but i dont know if its 4ws and its a 2.0 not a 2.2 as mine is.
Is the alternator the same or do i need one specific to the 4ws model?
Thanks.

2WS & 4WS makes no diference as JDM and UK are interchangeable. The only thing you have to be aware of is 4th Vs 5th gen alternators where the plug may be different.

Thanks, all fitted and running (reasonably) well. just need a new battery now.
Is there any call for pictoral guides for stuff like this by the way? i always find it helpful having a tutorial for stuff like this with lots of pictures, and would be happy to document all the stuff i do to the car if it will help people.

The workshop manuals have pretty good diagrams/images for all this stuff. That, and what Lude-dude said

I must admit I have always found workshop manuals quite hard to follow, especially if its illustrated.
