battery light on even though batter and alternator are ok

My battery light stays on since i changed the alternator and battery a while ago. it never came onbefore the battery died on me.

I get around 12.4v with the engine off, and about 13.6 with the engine running and all the lights and stuff on.
I have taken it for a test at my local garage and they have confirmed that its fine.

I have been using the flow chart in the manual but it makes my head spin a little. the light goes out with the 4 pin connector to the alternator unplugged, and there is a battery voltage when i test from the negative on the battery to the ig terminal on the connector ( cant remember the reading though) but couldnt get a reading from the positve on the battery to the c terminal.

That leaves me with is the vaultage 1v or less, which if its not reading i guess means yes, which tells me to check the battery, which is fine.

So where do i go from here?

I think it means your voltage regulator's gone open circuit and is probably charging all the time.

But the 12.4V on the battery's Okish for 'off'.

Probably need a new voltage regulator.

Or just the control unit needs re-setting; happens a lot on moderns.

The voltage regulator is in the alternator itself right? that would make sense as i didnt get the battery light with the bad alternator.

Im sure the ecu has been reset as i have had the battery unhooked for hours at a time lately whilst i have been working on it and its made no difference. also pulled the clock/radio fuse to try and reset the 4ws and that didnt help either.

Yes, the VR is a PCB on the back of the alt.

It's available separately, if your old one's gone.
