4th/5th Gen door sills - END: 04 Dec

Post by julienh » Mon Nov 26, 2012 7:31 pm

I asked the forum administrator Indigolemon before creating that topic

Hello people,

On the french Prelude forum we have just started a group buy for laser cut door sills.

This is what they will look like :
Image

The state of the GB right now on our forum :
The production is not started yet, layouts have been done and now Jojo in charge of the GB (he is "MnP" on the french Prelude forum) will receive the first prototype form the laser cutting company to validate the layouts and start the production for everybody.

The price :
The prototype will cost 65€ to Jojo/MnP. He asked french buyers if there was no problem in separating that cost on all other sills that would be sold. We all said it was fair.
Therefore he calculated that for 15 buyers, the door sills cost would be about 30€ shipping included to France (and about 40€ shipping included to UK).
Maybe the price for you could be different if we send all the sills to one person that could re-ship... I don't know what could be cheaper !

Pfinal = ((Pprog + (x * Pmat) + Proto) / x) + FDP

Pprog = Price for programming the laser cutting machine (fixed price)
Pmat = Raw material price (alu AG3 1mm thickness), dependent on the number of door sills
Proto = Price for the prototype
FDP = Shipping cost (maximum considered to send a pair of door sills : 7.10€ to France, 16.15€ to UK) + price of the package (cardboard + (bubble wrap or foam))
x = Number of buyers

When ?

end of the GB : 04/12/2012

No precise date for the GB end, but it would be good to know how many buyers we have in the beginning of december so everybody could put their door sills under the Christmas tree !

Some pics of the former GB :

and the GB topic (2012) : http://www.hondapreludeclub.net/forum/v ... =0#p411935

Jojo is in charge of that GB on the french Prelude forum, I am here to give a hand.

and about shipping, if one of you think it could be even cheaper to send only one package with all the door sills and then one of you re-ship them through your country, we could proceed that way ;)

Thank you Julienh ;)

If you have any questions (technical stuff, details about costs or anything else), Julienh or me are here :!:

We're now 10 people interested on the french forum, the more we are, the cheaper it will be for everyone :)

A last detail (important to me), neither me nor anyone makes benefits on these sills.

Have a good night!

i'm surprised, i thought loads of people would be up for these?
Will it be just the aluminium plates and then you fit them to your existing sill? Or will it come as a full replacement sill?

I assume you mean pictures? There are a few linked in the first post above:

They look good but the font is wrong IMO so it doesnt look right. If the front was the same as the 4th Gens for 4th gens or wide and flat like the OEM 5th Gen sills then thats better.

Aside from having the wrong font, I think you'll have a problem with dirt accumulating underneath, getting in through the holes.
