CF mugen rear spats

Post by A1ex » Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:32 pm

So,

I can't get making the big stuff until I move house, but can certainly get on with the smaller stuff. So decided I'm going to give the rear spats a go but down the group by route this time.

Here's the drill;

I have a set of mugen rear spats

Along with the know how to make copies.

So, for this to work the basic prices would be as follows;

Full Carbon Fibre spats with pro finish top layer (perfect straight weave) £125
Full Carbon Kevlar spats £120
Top two layers of Carbon Fibre with pro finish top layer and bottom two layers as glass fibre £105
All fibre glass £85

I'm happy to keep the group buy open until the end of the month for pay day etc but need at least 3 people. By this point I would need 50% of the price from above with the remainder paid as the parts are completed. I would expect to take around two weeks to get the full batch completed.

The manufacturing processes I'll be using to make the parts will either be a vacuum packed wet layup or resin infusion. Both of which have the capacity to give a good surface finish;

If anyone is not happy with the finish on the final part I will replace it.

Any questions?

edit: simplified the pricing

No problem dude.

1. Ferdie
2. ...

If there's more than 3 people I can bring the prices down further ;)

All going to plan, I'll be moving house in April. I'll setup a group buy for the front bumper then is a similar format to this. There's no point me going through the expense and effort to make the moulds if only 1 other person wants the part. I've already sunk over a grand into it for a very small return

yeah you need to be producing stuff that will fly out that everyone will want plug covers the alternator wire cover maybe the wiper coverand battery covers, cooling plates eyelids you have already made get them on the bay.
getting stuff hydrodipped isnt cheap maybe you should offer a wrapping service? so people will get a real c/f on a part that will fit like oem.

I put the eyelids up ebay, it's full of cheap skates tho. Had them listed for £35 (about £2 mark up) and 1 person contacted me in 2months and that was to offer me £25 because they were too expensive.

The universal fit stuff is where the quantity will be, you're right there. I do like the wiper arm covers 8-)
