Harness bar and strut brace Combo! (£75)

Post by 4thgenphil » Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:22 pm

Running harnesses?
Don't want your spine crushed to dust in an accident?
Want an Exceptionally strong rear strut brace?
Require a brace to have the strength between the important wishbone mounts?

Then read on!

After rather lengthily discussions with @tramroadmotors about this a design has finally been established! The brace/harness bar will essentially be of the same design as performance works former brace (this brace has disappeared off the face of the planet) which went with his cage that's currently residing in my garage. The reason for similarities is purely the fact that its the best cost effective solution!

Why is this better than using harness eye's in the rear seat belt holes? Its all about angles! This design will pull your body back into the seat (stopping you moving forwards in a crash) as opposed to the eyes which pull you down at an angle (towards the floor of the car) which in a crash can have terrible results to your spine.

The shape and wishbone mount attachments of the brace/harness bar will be essentially the same as this.

The difference with the ones to be produced by Tram road motors will be that the main bar will be produced using high strength CDS Roll cage Steel to ensure they are as safe and as strong as possible.

The harness bar will also not have harness eye's welded to it like the PAW one, instead will be produced so that the harnesses wrap around the bar and are stopped from slidding around with loops.

The bars will come Painted black.

The not so good, if a little obvious news! These will not Work on cars with a full interior or the still have a 4WS ECU in its original position. If you got creative i'm sure you could make it work if you wanted.
Secondarily, as you can see from the pictures of the brace fitted to PAW's project scrap some material has to be removed and if you car was 4WS you will have to remove the diagonal beam that the 4WS ECU attaches to.

These should fit both 4th gens aswell as 5th gens (if you can see a reason why it won't fit a 5th speak now).

The prototype will be fitted to a 5th to make sure.

The cost of all this?

Well £150 wouldn't be unreasonable would it?

Tram road motors (Phil) has agreed to do all this for just £75 a piece !

This figure doesn't include postage or Paypal fee's. if you want to pay by card please contact Tram road motors

Any questions welcome!

Tram road motors would like 10 names for this product to offer the price he has quoted.

cheers

How much interior can you get away with keeping? I.e - does it totally get rid of any chance of having the rear seat in situ?
