97 Manual VTI MOT Fail/Breaking

Post by loadieboy » Mon May 19, 2014 3:41 pm

G'day, my 97VTI Manual has just failed it's MOT for emissions and front and rear suspension issues (new ball joint needed on both required from memory). I've been quoted £600 to get this sorted and so have decided that, as great as the car is to drive, that is the end of the line for me. (Also has some rusting arch issues that i'd also need to sort to keep long term)

If you know what you are doing and could break it then it's yours for £150 (what the breakers will give me). (Has refurbished standard alloys from 2 years ago that cost me double that. doh)

The car's currently in Alnwick, but if you have a car trailer then I may be able to arrange picking it up and getting it to you.. as my other (practical/boring) car has a tow bar.

Rather it go to someone on here and recycled to keep more Preludes out there.

£600 for a few balljoints and emissions? I'd find a better garage...........

your location says Newbury, but the car is super far North in Alnwick?

Are you breaking or selling/scrapping?

What colour is the car? Spec?

G'day Simon, Yeah, that's because (conveniently  ) I work near Alnwick and that's where it was. I (as Vtecmec's reply probably shows) am no mechanic so I'm not breaking it. My options are sell it for scrap, or sell it for breaking. It's the VTI 97 model (185bhp) in a manual with black fabric seats. I'll try and get some pics on tomorrow when I'm back up north.
