Don't normally have a problem with the fronts, the rears can be a pita though when brand new. When I'm in that situation I normally use the handbrake loads while driving to the mot place, to try and get them to bed in and take a spanner with me to adjust the handbrake again when I arrive.

today was mot day and guess what yep it failed :( but only on emissions and it only just failed that , max co of .300 and it was .488 on first fast idle then .359 on second fast idle , but would not reduce enough for a pass so my question is how can i reduce the emissions that little bit for a pass ...

Did the mot place not offer any advice?

Questions;
Has it got a cat fitted?
What exhaust is fitted? (is it oem or after market/larger)?
Has the exhaust got any leaks?
Has it got an oem or after market air filter?
Is the air filter clean?
Was the engine warm and was it idling at correct revs?

to be honest i didnt really have time to chat to them as i dropped in on my way past as i was off to a breakdown, time i got back they was shut , in answer to your questions ....
yes it has a cat
exhaust is oem with some after market back box
they have advised an exhaust leak so will need to check this out
removed after market filter and fitted oem with new filter
engine was up to temp and idles fine
result of natural idle test was .111 with max limit of .500

Ok, so first stop is to fix the exhaust leak - that will be causing incorrect lambda readings.

well checked the exhaust and sure enough its broken right on the flexi part of the downpipe so new downpipe needed , kinda hoping this will sort the emissions out

Won't fitting new spark plugs help the emmisions? I'm pretty sure that's what I've had to do once or twice in the past

Also clean out the EGR value if it's got one and you haven’t already cleaned it.
