It's official! The dual-pump AWD system on the Integra is dog-doodie.
There wasn't a huge amount of snow about. The lad had managed to get home in the MX-5, even if at only 20 mph, and we were only half an hour behind him, so I did not expect any real issues with the Teg. After all, that's what the part-time 4WD is for, surely?
But the system brought no discernible benefits over FWD.
The way it works is that the pumps push drive to front and/or rear when differences in axle speeds are detected. There's too much delay in the system and the extra drive cuts in once you've already lost grip. It's entertaining, though: there's no way of predicting which way it's going slide first!
Oh, we got home alright, but Land Rover it ain't. Are CRVs any better?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.
