Not a good day

Post by Sailor » Fri May 05, 2017 12:42 pm

It was Mrs Sailor's birthday.

She went to her shop in the Prelude, I went off in the Integra to buy her present(s).
The things I was going to buy weren't right, so I was gift-less. Grumpy, I came home to find a message on the answerphone: the Lude had broken down. I went out to fiddle with it. No joy.

I tried to get something else for her birthday. That didn't work, either. Meanwhile, I found out that the money that was supposed to be in the bank from the sale of two guitars had not yet arrived.

Still no joy with the Prelude, so I decided to tow it home.
The bar is a short one and the driveway where the car had been left is very, very humpy and isn't quite wide enough to turn round in one go. I hooked everything up and started the Teg. The person in the towed car was looking more at where we were supposed to be going than watching what was happening to the bar. The two cars touched, corner to corner - just as we reached one of the humps. We were slewed sidewards and the cars locked, the valances crushing each other a bit like a knuckle joint. Cue lots of sweary words.

The bar was jammed solid and it took ages to separate them. We towed the Lude to a nearby trading estate, left it and went home to get ready to go out for a birthday dinner.

The day finished at three in the morning when I woke up feeling weak and sick. Even the meal had upset me.

The Prelude's plastic rear valance recovered its shape and has only scuff marks. That's a bit of good news at least. The Integra did not fare so well:-

I think it's even more annoying when it's 'sef inflicted' too.

I remember a good 12 or 13 years ago, I was leaving a site where I'd just been sign writing a van and reversed into and iron girder that was sticking out of the ground. :x It was angled away from the car so the top looked further away than the bottom was, if that makes sense.
I wouldn't have minded so much but there was a guy 'seeing me back'. He looks at me with just the corner of his mouth and his eyebrows raised and says, 'yep, you hit it'....I was like, yeah I know, you were supposed to be making sure I didn't, bellend.
Common sense isn't common eh....

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Just one of these days, shouldn't have left the house! You will get it sorted car wise, if the wife ever forgives you for not buying her the right present is another matter...

On the bright side Hans, it could have been worse...it could have been your birthday!

Bummer though, hope you get it all sorted without too much expense.
