It's not just the engine differences between the a5 & a8, it is the gearbox, which makes a fair bit of difference not just in speed but in ease of driveability. The M2P4 in the h22a8 is much better pootling around town, combine that with 4WS = WIN. I went from a 1997 h22a5 to a 2000 h22a8.

sbk1972 as far as I know the auto box on the 5th was never changed in its run from 97-00.

Hi,

Here you go. I love my Mr2. Im 6ft plus and getting in and out is a little - tight

I love the handling, love the pop up head lights too

I brought it 9 months ago, put a new clutch in, new cambelt, full service. Car has 2 previous owners, and only done 65K. Just want a prelude now

Super Red 2, best colour for MR2's. Give them that proper sports car look. Yours looks very clean.

AFAIK all 5th gen headlights are plastic, JDM or UKDM.
There is a guide to refurbing them in the Wiki I believe, or you can just buy more from someone else and leave the others in the garden for your cats to play with.
