mercutio wrote:how can that ever be comparable to a lude  lexus are quite heavy cars because they trade as luxury so will have tons of sound deadening.
The beams engine model, the one I had in mind, was 210bhp and 154lb/ft and a kerb weight of around 1350kgs. The 5th gen is basically the same weight. It also has double wishbone suspension on every corner which not many cars do

How juicy are we talking?

My dad wad on the top 100 waiting list for the is200 when it 1st came out as a company car.
He ordered it in britsh racing green with gold badges.
It arrived 2 months late in black with gold badges. XxxCuntsxx.

Anyhow it was the 150 bhp sport and it was great but my dad ended up swapping it back with a colegue with his old 406 3.0v6 coupe. Much much better car andbas we know the prelude us the jap equivalent of the 406 coupe.

I'm not sure any of those are quite as brilliant at everything as is a 'Lude, though! The NSX has no reat reats & everything gets cooked in the boot. And it's a handful in the sleet. Otherwise, it's damned good.

The only thing which comes close (CVVT & 4WS) is an Infiniti G37 with S-pack. But it's still rather fat (c 1,700 for both saloon & coupe) and the depreciation has a few more years to whistle past before they are bargains. And there's about four sold.

I don't think my mates is THAT slow. Its not bad once VVTi kicks in. Its just a lazy 2.0 straight 6 and pulls well enough.

Fuel wise. He reckons its not bad. He works beside me and i know what he earns. If it was bad on fuel he would have got rid long time ago. Uses it daily and has done for the circa 8 months he's had it. He dosn't kick its hole in though.

RS200 are nice looking, i would expect around 30mpg from the 2.0 4 pot. Quite rare though, and alot of them are auto's. I think i would have a tidy ATR over 1 tbh.

There are 3 MT altezzas up for sale at the mo in the uk. Had a look on a jap auction site and they've got 250+ with beams motors that can be imported for $2000 plus costs
