I've got a similar one on my 4th gen, it's cheap and cheerful but there are more expensive options out there with better results. The adaptor ones feel very notchy, not smooth. But still shifts quicker overall if that's what your after.

Not fitted one but i spy with my little eye a tiny little socket grub screw and i guess thats what holds it onto the gearstick  - wouldnt take much to break the hold of that screw so i would say its no good from that point of view. Id say your better off saving up for the real thing. I fitted a FM Shortshift which i got from JDMBB4 and its top quality - i dont know if FM ever did one for the 5th gen but i did see one for the 4th gen up for sale a month or so back.

There's a 5th gen version or two out there - not FM. One of the large headlighted gurus will be along with more details.

Would love one of these for the Accord!! So much throw in the stock shifter, feels like 2nd and 4th are in the back seats lol. How are the more expensive ones fitted? Do you have to start stripping parts out?

get the JTC one, it's closest in design to the pspec short shifter (discontinued) which was considered the best one for the 5g. I looked at installing the ebay adaptor and thought better of it in the end

The proper ones completely replace the shift lever. On the Forbidden Motorsports 4th gen short shifter you simply transfer over part of the assembly from the OEM shifter. The only real "mod" you need to do on the 4th gen is notch out the underside of the gear gaiter frame. As the shift linkage is raised (in order to shorten the throw) it would foul on the frame of the gaiter in the centre console if you didn't do this (This will never be seen though). Whether it's the same or there are even options for the Accord I do not know.

Alternatively, many have modified their OEM shifters instead. Fairly straight forward to do if you can weld, or know someone else who can weld.

No welding for me in afraid as I'd probably set fire to the interior lol

Might have to keep an eye out for anyone manufacturing a short shifter for the Accord. I wouldn't mind a bit of light modification, I'd just be worried I'd leave something askew, would be my luck :P

Well first of all I'd highly recommend you remove the shift before trying to modify it

If there aren't any for the Accord, then you could look out for a spare OEM shifter kicking about on ebay or the like and get that one modified. You must know someone who can weld if you can't yourself ;-) That way, there'd be no messing and you can do a straight swap. Like the FM one as well, you could put 3 hole positions in it, just incase you don't get it right the first time, or it's too much too little.
