OMG ITS RETURNED! Got 6.5k limiter again sometimes and it pops in and out of vtec sometimes when it decides to works now . I took solenoid of earlier to look and see if there was the same issue of blocked filter. Nope the filter is as clean as a whistle! There was abit of grity oil in the bottom chamber of the solenoid though?

Vtec has been working fine since last post this has only come back since yesterday after a good abusing. HELP IDEA'S

The way it's coming in and out of vtec sounds like low oil pressure to me, unless you have a bad electrical connection to the vtec solenoid?

Run a temporary vtec light fed from the solenoid feed (12v), then when it does it again, if the light goes out when vtec does not work and should do you'll know its electrical, otherwise it will be mechanical.

Yer this is what im thinking. The oil is full. Do you think the solenoid could be leaking from old gasket? If so how much oil would leak because it is abit dirty and oily under solenoid anyway. Would it leak alot for it to stop working? Also should the bottom chamber have grit in it?
Cant live without vtec for to long guys. Im clucking here people!

Is this sort of issue a common thing?

Get a 12v bulb, connect the negative to earth somewhere on the chassis, then feed a wire spliced into the green/white wire at the solenoid to the live end of the bulb. That's it really.

BTW, there should not be any grit anywhere in the oil .

Yep i know this. It scares me wondering where its coming from. The grit isnt metal as it brakes down in my fingers. Dont know what it is. Car was sitting for years and when it was used it was very short drives by a pensioner so dont know whether it is just cleaning built up jobby out over the year. Will do a oil and filter change again soon to be safe.
What do you think the most likely problem is with grit and vtec issue people? Thanks

id be tempted to do another oil change and have a look at what comes out with the old oil - sounds like your on the right track though.
