Rear Fog Light Switch illumination

I have wired up the rear fog light using a UKDM switch as such;

From the wiring diagram on here the Red wire is meant to be wired to the brightened control switch but the Type-S does not have one so the fog symbol dokes not illuminate like the other dash switches when the lights are switched on.

Everything else works fine, the fog light works, as does the 'on' light on the switch.

Any ideas?

Hi Andy,

I can't see the diagram unfortunately, however I'd just run a feed from another interior light that's activated with the headlights. If the ciggy lighter or ash tray is illuminated with the car's headlights then I'd take my feed from there. Hopefully somebody familiar with a 5g's wiring can confirm?

I have tapped into the GND, 12v Sidelight and 12v Ign feeds from the front fog switch. The front fog switch instead of the illumination to brightness control just has another ground as the 5th pin. The illumination obviously just works off the main 12v field.

I have tried the spare wire off a 12v field but nada.

Could do! I only suggested the ash tray light as in most cars it's just 2 wires, and easy to figure out which is +ve. It'll be neater taking it from the switch, but as they have multiple pins you'll either need a wiring diagram with a pin out, or to play with a multimeter for a bit

Looking at the Rear and Front fog switches they seem identically setup except for Pin 5.

Rear is;

Pin 1 - GND
Pin 2 - 12v Sidelight
Pin 3 - 12v Ign
Pin 4 - Switched outlet to relay and Fog Light
Pin 5 - Connection to Brightness Dash control

Front is;

Pin 1 - GND
Pin 2 - 12v Sidelight
Pin 3 - 12v Ign
Pin 4 - Switched outlet to relay and Fog Lights
Pin 5 - GND

So I have pins 1,2 and 3 from the rear daisy chained into the corresponding pins in the front switch loom and Pin 4 directly to the rear fog light. Seeing as I do not have the brightness control in the car I am guessing that Pin 5 may be obsolete on the rear switch and maybe the bulb is blown for the illumination on the switch.

You'll still need to ground pin 5 methinks. If you have grounded it already and it's still not illuminating, then I think you're bang on with your suggestion of it being the bulb
